The Clan of the Pie Mysteries Tarot

clock February 29, 2008 19:05 by author Danny

I've been dreaming of you all this past week, and I'm feeling called to begin work on a homemade deck, "The Clan of the Pie Mysteries Tarot." I'm thinking pies as pentacles, of course! If any of you have ideas, are inspired to contribute, have images to incorporate, desire to be represented on a particular card, please let me know.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Pie

clock February 24, 2008 13:15 by author Saga

Ingredients:

1-9" pie crust ( I know it is against our pie-religion, but I like the ready-made deep dish crust)

Either pre-bake the crust for 5 minutes @400, or paint it with an eggwhite so it won't get soggy.

1-12 oz can pumpkin

3 eggs

1-8 oz Ricotta cheese

1/2-cup sugar (or splenda, like calories matter with a pie like this!)

2-big handfuls of choclate chips

1-pinch salt

Some - cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, alspice, crystalized ginger, white pepper

You can skip the crystalized ginger - I just like the extra scent and flavor

Mix pumpkin, eggs and sugar.  Add cheese and spices. Whir it up till it gets nice and frothy.  Fold in chocolate chips

Fill the crust and bake @375 for about 45 minutes.  Do the toothpick check to be sure it's done.

If you want to make this pie totally sinful, add a double jigger of burbon AND use a store-bought crust!

Kitchen Table Magic????

clock February 24, 2008 10:10 by author Saga

Many years ago a group of people gathered around my kitchen table talking, dreaming, laughing, eating and spinning out fantastic visions. We spent most of 3 days together around that table.  Amazing life changes came for all of us out of those days.  We all remained so enchanted by the magic of the time  that it was a good long while till we woke up enough to realize what we had done.

Some years later, deep in the manifestation of those days, an understanding that sitting at the Kitchen Table was indeed magic came to roost in our group-mind. It became a part of our lives together and changed otherwise mundane time to magical time.  One night, in an emotional frenzy over the powerful life changes that had manifested for me, words were tumbling all around me and I wrote the following paragraph about Kitchen Table Magic:

I name as sacred, Kitchen Table Magic; people gathered around the kitchen table, talking and listening.    There are invocations of the elementals, ancestors, deity and spirit powers of all realms. The intent of this circle is  to experience connection by speaking, listening, and deep witnessing.  There is a unique tumbling language used round the Kitchen Table, witch includes hand waving, laughter, gossip, food, dreaming out loud, tragedy, love and storytelling.  The Circle of Kitchen Table Magic is never ever devoked, only called to different levels of intensity.
